During the event we had two sessions, one in the morning (9.30am to 1:00pm ) and one in the afternoon (2.45pm to 5:00pm). The event was designed to maximise the online audience interaction with the speakers and also included break out sessions on specific topics to mimic the networking at the coffee breaks.
Breakout Sessions
At 11:15AM during Coffee Break we hosted a virtual networking session on Zoom featuring:
1. Technology Trends – a discussion on what will be the next big business drivers, Moderated by Brian Coffey of Analog Devices
2. The Future of Work – Lessons learned from the COVID 19 era – Moderated by Leonard Hobbs of MIDAS Ireland
At 13:00 during lunch break we hosted sessions on:
1. Electronics Systems Skillnet breakout, moderated by Gerry Byrne, Skillnet coordinator
2. Collaborative Project ideas for 2021, a DTIF opportunity moderated by Leonard Hobbs

The theme for this year’s conference was ” From bits to qubits …. empowering innovation for a better world “and heard from keynote speakers on a wide variety of topics from quantum computing to 5G to what technology can learn from the Arts !
Speakers included:
- Pat Falvey, Irish Explorer –resilience in a crisis;
- Professor Bogdan Staszewski, UCD, Co-Founder of Equal1 –quantum computing;
- Ronan Quinlan, joint CEO and co-founder at Taoglas –developing a global IoT business from Ireland;
- Professor Séamus Davis, Professor of Physics University of Oxford and Quantum Physics at UCC –superconductivity and quantum;
- Professor Ahuvia Kahane, Professor of Greek Culture at TCD –Technology and the Arts;
- Hans Schwarz, CVP, Corporate Business and Strategy Development, Qorvo –the significance of business scale.
The event concluded with a panel discussion on the topic ” from Start Ups to successful SMEs – challenges and opportunities “ , which was moderated by Patricia Moore of Mindseed, and feature David Moloney of Intel Movidius, David van Zuydam of Head Diagnostics and Jenny Melia of Enterprise Ireland
