The Minister for Finance has announced that 35 jobs are to be created at a new research and development design centre in Limerick.
Semiconductor firm Zentrum Mikroelektronik Dresden ( ZMDI ) said the jobs are for engineering graduates and technicians and will be created over five years.
The new centre will focus on the development of energy saving and power management products.
In a statement, the company said growth is being driven by the demand for increased energy efficiency in data centre cooling, telecommunications and high-end computing.
Minister Michael Noonan said the addition of ZMDI to Limerick is "a major endorsement of Ireland’s capabilities in the area of analog and mixed signal electronics and R&D".
The company supplies analog and mixed-signal semiconductors for the automotive, mobile medical, industrial automation and consumer markets.
