Programme overview

Note: In order to facilitate the preference of the majority of attendees, all six days are now planned to be delivered in person at Lapps Quay, Cork (instead of Dublin).
This training is scheduled on 18th and 19th April 2024, 16th - 17th May and 13th - 14th June 2024.

This highly interactive six-day programme is designed to enhance your existing management skills.
We will help you develop new competencies within a framework of identified essential skills. It is comprised of 6 full days divided into 3 modules of 2 consecutive days each:
1. Excel: Learn a variety of management tools and techniques,
2. Perform: Discover how to design strategies for increased employee performance and
3. Deliver: Find out how to foster an environment of creativity and innovation.
The Essential Skills of Management programme is one of the IMI’s most popular executive development programmes.
It was held twice in 2023: In person in Lapps Quay, Cork on 12th - 13th Oct and remaining four days online: 9th - 10th Nov and 14th - 15th Dec and a previous rerun in person at IMI Sandyford, Dublin on 22-23 May and online for the remaining 4 days, 19-20 June and 31 Aug - 1 Sept.

This programme is ideal for developing managers who have 6 months or more experience and who would like to enhance their key management skills. It is being particularly targeted at middle management in SMEs.

Trainer Profile

Dymphna Ormonde has spent the past 12 years as an executive coach and trainer across both the public and private sectors designing and delivering training and coaching programmes at all levels in organisations including business owners and management teams and has built a reputation for developing and delivering training that engages, challenges and stimulates the thinking of participants to bring about change in behaviours. In addition to coaching and training, Dymphna has lectured on Leadership and Change, Human Resource Development and Communications in Organisations in the J.E. Cairnes School of Business, NUI, Galway and on Front Line Management for the National College of Ireland. Dymphna was awarded a diploma in Life and Business Coaching, accredited by the European Coach Institute.
