Chairman's Address
Hello,
My name is John Blake and I'm the chairman of MIDAS for the period 2011 and 2012.
2011 has been a very busy year for MIDAS. At the start of the year we assessed the status of MIDAS and the microelectronics sector in Ireland. We have indentified focus areas to address the needs of our members (industrial and academic) and stakeholders (government agencies and ultimately the exchequer). The primary goal of MIDAS is to support the growth of our industry as measured in terms of Jobs & Exports. We are working on a number of initiatives in areas such as:
- Coordinating research across the industry & universities
- Collaborating on the provision of cost effective training
- We’re in the process of putting in place an Accelerator business plan for start-ups in our sector
- Working with the educational system to ensure the supply of skilled engineers is available
We're aiming that this website will allow us to commicate the message that Ireland is a hive of activity in the microelectronics sector.
