Chairman's Address
Hello,
My name is John Blake and I'm the chairman of MIDAS.
It has been a very busy period for MIDAS over the last couple of years. At the beginning of the period we assessed the status of MIDAS and the microelectronics sector in Ireland. We have identified focus areas to address the needs of our members (industrial and academic) and stakeholders (government agencies and ultimately the exchequer). The primary goal of MIDAS is to support the growth of our industry as measured in terms of jobs and exports. To this end, we are working on a number of initiatives in areas such as:
- Coordinating research across the industry & universities
- Collaborating on the provision of cost effective training
- Putting in place an Accelerator business plan for start-ups in our sector
- Working with the educational system to ensure a supply of skilled engineers is available
We're hoping that this website will allow us to communicate the message that Ireland is a hive of activity in the microelectronics sector.
